Was there a previous lost civilization that only exists in the form of half buried masonry and giant eroded statues?
There are the remains of the strongholds and bizarre temples that the Dark Ones erected during their reign as rulers over the enslaved races. Most folks avoid those places as cursed, or they've been forgotten.
As to if anything exists from before… nothing has been discovered. Yet.
I do have answers to what happened in the time before the Dark Ones… but that is a mystery for the PCs to perhaps solve someday.
